Questions about hosting
When can I use the hosting?
From 1 December 2026. Until then, you can run Snowfox Notes for free on your own web space.
Where are my notes stored?
On our server in Germany.
How is this different from self-hosting?
With self-hosting, Snowfox Notes runs on your own web space and you look after it yourself. With hosting by us, it runs on our server, with 10 GB of storage and your own subdomain. The app is the same either way.
Can you read my notes?
Technically yes, because Snowfox Notes has no end-to-end encryption and the server is ours. If you don’t want that, host it yourself.
Can I move to another server later?
Yes. Download the ZIP backup, set up Snowfox Notes on the new web space and import the backup there. Notes, folders, files, versions and annotations come along; accounts you create anew.
